While exploring the industrial harbor area of Barrow at low tide, we found several sunken fishing boats. We quickly met Neil a local sailor. He explained that the Scottish government commissioned the boats and then in the 80’s demanded that they be burned and sunk. This ended up putting a lot of guys out of work and destroying some fine fishing vessels. The next day we returned with a couple of
handsaws and cut as much of the boat as we could free from the muddy harbor floor. We then reassembled the boat and constructed a make shift floating device to keep it above water, raising it from the dead on the lake of Coniston.
